Class Offerings and Descriptions

Here is a list of classes available at Creative Escapes:

Open Studio

The purpose of Open Studio is to make available the environment of the Creative Escapes studio space, complete with its materials, tools and equipment. Stacia's intention is to be available for some guidance and nurturing, however the true intent and value of Open Studio is the shared interaction among others, applying and expanding on the lessons that have been learned.

Satisfaction in the handling of "new to you" materials comes through two specific steps...thorough instruction and continued individual practice. While it may be possible for a person to pick up new methods from peers during Open Studio, Creative Escapes recommends certified, guided lessons to learn new techniques during scheduled class offerings.

What to Wear and What to Bring (For Open Studio or Classes)

Whether you are coming for a class or you are coming for Open Studio, you just need to bring your ideas. You are only limited by your imagination. Stacia suggests you wear something comfortable while you are here. Aprons are provided by the studio! All materials can be purchased here at the studio. In your best interest, if you are bringing some of your own materials, please let Stacia know so that all of the materials you are working with are compatible and your project is successful.

Art Clay - Class Offerings

The purpose of the Art Clay Class is to provide a sequence of methods to work with a variety of Art Clay products in order to learn techniques. Currently, Stacia offers two Metal Clay Classes. They are Beginning Art Clay and Art Clay - Leaf Pendent.

These classes allow me to illustrate and guide you through an experience developed around a design. I have invested, studied and certified as both a Level One and Senior Level Instructor. I have independently explored with Art Clay products and designs and believe that the class curriculum is thorough and effective.

Beginning Art Clay

Beginning Art Clay covers the basics of working with Art Clay. You will make your own pendent while you learn the techniques of working with the clay, rolling it out, and basic design techniques. The cost of this class is $50 plus the cost of your materials. The material cost for most first time Art Clay projects is approximately $25.

Art Clay - Leaf Pendent

In this class you will use liquid Art Clay to cover a live poinsetta leaf or a live geranium leaf. You may add a stone to your leaf if you so desire.

Polymer Clay - Class Offerings

Introduction to Polymer Clay

This class teaches you the basics of working with polymer clay. The technique that is learned is Mokume Gane. This technique is easy to learn and results in striking color patterns distributed throughout the clay. At the end of this class, you will be taking home a single switch plate, votive candle holder and a few beads. The cost of this class is $45 which includes your materials.

Polymer Clay - Level 2

This class teaches you how to mix colors, gives you an introduction to color blending and cane making. This class builds on the clay handling techniques taught in the Intoduction to Polymer Clay class. The cost of this class is $45.

Felting - Class Offerings

Introduction to Felting

You will learn the basics of felting with wool. For your first project, you will design and make a vessel. The cost of this class is $50 plus materials.
